Can I bring a boat during my cabin stay?

We have a boat dock for use by all cabin renters which is located between cabins 3 and 4. 100 feet from our office is a boat ramp operated by Aqualand Marina. There is a $5.00 charge. Boat trailer can be stored in our yard for cabin stay.

How old do I have to be to drive a jet ski?

Georgia law states you must be 16. 12-15 year olds can drive if accompanied by and adult or alone if they have passed a boater certification course. Under 12 not allowed to drive.

What do I need to bring when I stay in a cabin?

Very little. Bring bug spray (in season), charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill, and any DVD's you want to watch, shampoo and paper towels. Cabins are supplied with bath towels and soap, bed linens, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, hand towels, dish soap and a sponge. Drip coffee machines with filters, toasters, blenders and microwaves are in each cabin. All larger appliances are standard. You might buy ice at the office ($2.00/bag) as each cabin has only 2 ice cube trays.

Do I have to bring my own life preservers for a boat rental?

No, we supply them.

What is your pet policy on boats and in cabins?

On boats there is a NO PET policy. In cabins we have a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 per pet fee.

What is your cancellation policy for boat rental?

You must cancel in writing (email or fax) 7 days in advance. If you do not you will pay the rental fee. If conditions which prevent boat usage exist for more than 30 minutes (heavy rain, lightening, tornado warnings, high winds- anything deemed unsafe by LAR) you will be called on your cell phone to return to the dock and issued a gift certificate for comparable time lost. This gift certificate is good for one year and is transferable to another person.

What is your cancellation policy for cabin rental? 

Your email confirmation and credit card authorization states a cancel by date. If we do not get this form returned to us by that date we will cancel the reservation. These dates are generally 30 days in advance and 60 days in advance for a holiday weekend. Again any cancellation must be in writing (email or fax). Again like the boat rentals NO SHOWS pay what they committed to in writing in their confirmation.

 Can I hire a Captain for my boat rental?

We offer a First Mate Service for $150 a day. This service is for driving the boat. We offer the teaching of waterskiing or wakeboarding if you request. Please let us know in advance.

Can I use a grill on a boat?

No, but you can grill at a local day park. To the North of us is Old Federal Campground and to the South is Van Pugh Park. Both are open seasonally.

How much gas will my boat use?

Boats differ but you can average about 5 gallons per hour of use.

Do you sell bait or fishing licenses?

No, but they are both available locally. Best to buy on your way here. Walmart and Kmart offer licenses for sale OR you can obtain one online at www.georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us OR call 800-366-2661.

 Can we drink alcohol while on the boat?

Yes, if you are NOT the driver. You must have a designated driver who remains sober. The DUI rules that apply to driving a car apply to boats too.

Can you teach me to use the boat?

We always instruct anyone going out on a boat about safe boating practices and correct boat usage which includes recognizing lake markers, and boating etiquette. Please listen carefully as you can be stopped and cited by the DNR if you are caught disobeying the rules.

What will prevent me from getting lost?

Each rental boat has a map of the lake. If you still get lost just call us and you will be directed  back. Please give us a recognizable landmark or marker number to to better assist you. 

Do you rent waterskis or other toys?

Yes, but only with boat rental. We have adult skis and child skis, kneeboards and tubes. Each item is $25. Please note that the pontoon boats will pull tubes but only the ski boats will pull water skiiers. Nothing is allowed to be pulled behind jet skis.
