Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you may have regarding our Cabin and Boat Rentals and provide you with the information needed here. If you need have any additional questions or would like any additional information, please email info@lakelanierlodges.com.

 

 Can I bring a boat during my cabin stay?

We have a boat dock for use by all cabin renters which is located between cabins 3 and 4. Located just 100 feet from our office is a boat ramp operated by Aqualand Marina. There is a $5 charge to use the boat ramp. Boat trailers can be stored in our yard during your cabin stay.


     How old do I have to be to drive a jet ski?

Georgia law states you must be 16 years of age to drive a jet ski. 12-15 year olds can drive  if accompanied by an adult or they may drive alone if they have passed a boater certification course. Under 12 years of age is not allowed to drive.

What do I need to bring during my stay in the cabin?

Cabins are supplied with bath towels and soap, bed linenes,towels, pots/pans, dishes, silverware, dish soap and a sponge, coffee machines, toasters, blenders and a microwave. Larger appliances are standard. Feel free to bring bug spay, charcoal, and lighter fluid for the grill. Also, bring any DVD's you may want to watch during your stay as well as shampoo and paper towels. If ice is needed, you may purchase it from the office for $2 as each cabin has only 2 ice cube trays.


Do I have to bring my own life preservers for a boat rental?

No, we supply them.


What is your pet policy on boats and in cabins?

We do not allow pets on boats - we have a NO PET policy. We do allow pets in cabins for a non-refundable $100 per pet fee.


What is the cancellation policy for a boat or jet ski rental?

You must cancel in writing, by email, or fax 7 days in advance. If you do not notify us, you will be responsible for paying the rental fee. If conditions which prevent boat usage exist for more than 30 minutes, such as heavy rain, lightening, tornado warnings, high winds, or anything deemed unsafe by LAR you will be called on your cell phone to return to the dock and will be issued a gift certificate for comparable time lost. This gift certificate is good for one year  and is non-transferable.


What is the cancellation policy for a cabin rental?

Your email confirmation and credit card authorization states a cancel by date. If we do not get this form returned to us by that date we will cancel the reservation. These dates are generally 30 days in advance and 60 days in advance for holiday weekends. ANy cancellation must be done in writing, email or fax. NO SHOWS pay what they committed to in their email confirmation.


Can I hire a captain or first mate to drive my boat rental?

Yes, we can provide you with a first mate for either $25 per hour or $150 per day. This service is provided for parties, geocaching, customers that do not know how to operate the boats, relaxtion/enjoyment, etc...We also provide a first mate to help teach you how to operate the boats if preferred. If possible, please let us know if you need a first mate in advance so that we can set one up for you prior to arrival.


Can I use a grill on the boat rental?

No, but you may grill at a local park on Lake Lanier. To the North of us is Old Ferderal Campground and to the South of us is Van Pugh Park. Both are open seasonally.


How much gas will my boat use?

Boats differ but you can average about 5 gallons per use. Gas is currently $4.99 per gallon on the gas station dock at Aqualand. Gas is approximately $20-$30 for 4 hours of use.


Do you sell bait or fishing licenses?

No, but they are both available locally. It is recommended that you purchase these items on your way here or prior to your boat rental if you plan on fishing. You may also obtain a license online at www.georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us OR call 800-366-2661.


Is alcohol permitted on the boat?

Yes, and you may drink as long as you are not driving the boat. You must have a designated driver or a first mate if everyone plans on drinking. The DUI rules that apply while driving a car, are the same for boats too.


Will someone teach me how to use or drive the boat?

Of course! We provide a breif orientation prior to your scheduled boat rental. We ask that you arrive 45 minutes prior to your reservation so that you may complete paperwork and attend the orientation before taking your boat out on the lake. We instruct anyone going out on a boat about the safety procedures, safe boating practices and correct boat usage which includes recognising lake markers, and boating etiquette. Please listen carefully as you can be stopped and cited by the DNR if you are caught disobeying the rules.


What will prevent me from getting lost?

Each boat rental will have a map of the lake, you may also use a map application on your cell phone. If you still get lost, you may call the office and provide us with a recognizable landmar or marker number and someone will gladly direct you back to Aqualand. 


Do you rent waterskis or other accessories?

Yes, we do. You may rent accessories for our boat rentals or your own boats. We provide adult and child skis, kneeboards, wakeboards and tubes. Each item is $25 and includes a rope. Please note that the pontoon boats will pull tubes but only the ski boats will pull the water skiiers. We do not allow accessories for our jet ski rentals.
